Have you ever had a recruiter stop responding to your emails about a job lead? Or chatted online with a friend or potential date about meeting up, only to never have the plans come to fruition because they’ve suddenly disappeared? In the digital age, there are a multitude of ways to stay connected and keep in constant communication with one another, but it seems like connections fizzle and dissolve abruptly more than ever.

During Philly Tech Week, OVS hosted a workshop to share their expertise in service design by engaging the greater design community in a fun workshop on the topic of preventing and discouraging ghosting behavior.

Outcomes

  1. Service design 101 lesson: A quick presentation on the components of a service and what makes them successful and unsuccessful.

  2. User needs assessment: An activity to collect and share “ghost stories” to understand the trends and patterns of the ghosting phenomenon.

  3. Rapid prototyping: Exercises to help workshop attendees create representative artifacts of their solutions.

  4. Design critique: Formal feedback on attendees’ concept pitches.
